In 1996, Ernst Loosen, proprietor of Dr. Loosen, recognized the estate’s remarkable potential. After years of meticulous restoration and revitalization, he restored Villa Wolf to its former brilliance and propelled it onto the broader international stage.

Villa Wolf (formerly J.L. Wolf), founded in 1756, enjoyed widespread acclaim for over two centuries. A new era began in 1843 with the completion of its Italianate villa. In 1996, Ernst Loosen, proprietor of Dr. Loosen, recognized the estate’s remarkable potential. After years of meticulous restoration and revitalization, he restored Villa Wolf to its former brilliance. Since 2011, the estate has been managed by the exceptionally talented young winemaker Patrick Möllendorf, who brings renewed vitality while deepening the focus on viticulture and winemaking.

Villa Wolf is dedicated to producing classic, pure wines that are true expressions of the Pfalz terroir. Most are dry and substantial, marked by ripe fruit flavors and characteristic stone notes. To preserve the natural high quality of the grapes, we practice sustainable viticulture and emphasize gentle fruit handling through traditional, minimalist winemaking.

· Terroir-Driven Diversity

Villa Wolf lies between the Haardt mountains and the Rhine, directly north of France’s Alsace region. Though modest in scale, the Haardt range shields the Pfalz from cold, humid Atlantic influences, making it one of Germany’s warmest and driest winegrowing areas. This climate allows not only Riesling but also typical varieties such as Gewürztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc to flourish and fully ripen—key to producing concentrated, balanced, and distinctive wines.
